Modern psychology classifies physiognomy as a pseudoscience that has no evidence base. At the same time, it recognizes the influence of social attitudes on the human personality. Perceiving the appearance and behavior of another person, everyone endows him with character traits based on stereotypes that have developed in society. Scientist A. A. Bodalev clearly demonstrated this phenomenon in his experiments.

Two groups of subjects were shown a portrait of the same person. They were asked to give him an oral description. Only the first group was presented with a criminal, and the second - with a famous scientist. As a result of the experiment, two mutually exclusive characteristics were obtained. The criminal appeared to be a cruel person with a suspicious look and a massive jaw, indicating mercilessness. To the second group, the scientist’s eyes seemed tired, his facial expression was intelligent, and her lower part indicated perseverance and perseverance. This confirms the idea that a strong-willed chin is a certain stereotype of perception that has developed in society.

Concept diffusion

The chin is responsible for the shape of the face as a whole, completing its lower part. Each race has its own characteristics in its structure. Against the background of a well-developed trapezius muscle, the neck also seems more massive. Long arms, large skeletal bones and well-developed muscles indicate strength and a certain amount of aggression. Such men make either good athletes or leaders.

Male athletes are distinguished by developed logical thinking, strong character and the ability to withstand pressure from others. Public opinion associates them with real masculinity and attributes to them the presence of the following character traits: confidence, determination, physical endurance, competitiveness, perseverance. They are often condemned for being thick-skinned, aggressive, or, on the contrary, passive. But it has been noticed that during the period of increased hormonal levels (ovulation), women subconsciously choose men with a strong-willed chin.

Prominent representatives

Various world publications regularly conduct ratings of the most beautiful and sexiest men on the planet (Heart world, Life). Looking at celebrity portraits, it is easy to understand what a strong-willed chin means. This is an invariable attribute of all modern sex symbols. It is possessed not only by actors who traditionally star in action films - Steven Seagal, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Dolph Lundgren. But also handsome men George Clooney, Robert Pattinson, Justin Timberlake.

Among women there are also athletes whose figure resembles a man’s. Their chins often look rather rough. This is a consequence of high levels of the male hormone testosterone. For long-term relationships, men intuitively look for a partner in whose fidelity they want to be sure. That's why surveys show that women with strong chins seem less attractive to them. The conclusions are confirmed by examples from the lives of celebrities. What does the shape of your chin say about your character?

Today I invite everyone who is interested in the topic - physiognomy. In the last article, I talked about how the shape of a person’s nose and his character traits are connected. Now let's go down a little and look at the chin.

A chin protruding forward under the first incisor of the teeth (Fig. 1) means a desire for marriage. Such people prefer a partner with the same temperament as his. And then what we call intimacy arises between people.

A chin protruding a little further forward, behind the sign of intimacy (Fig. 2), speaks of a desire to be loved. This symptom is usually most common among men. The width of the lower jaw under the wisdom teeth (Fig. 6) means fidelity in love. This gift makes a person make promises and accept gifts as keepsakes; such people remain faithful to memories and marital vows and passionately desire to have children in marriage. People who have a pronounced sign of this will never violate someone else’s marriage by taking away their partner, and they will not change their own for a more suitable one. The passion to be loved here is the main incentive to love oneself and to be creative and faithful.

The desire for kinship of souls and exceptional passion is indicated by a chin protruding far forward (Fig. 7).

These children tend to repeat often: “I will do what I want.”

The length of the lower jaw under the second molar (Fig. 10) indicates persistence. People who have this sign are very persistent, persistent in everything they undertake, and they do not tend to rest until the work is completed. This trait is clearly expressed in good students, naturalists, astronomers, and mathematicians.

If this trait is not very pronounced, then such people still have some freedom of thoughts and feelings. Although at the same time they blindly rely on others. People with a pronounced such trait remain firm and unshakable when there are attempts to deviate them from their intended task.

Some people believe that our facial features reflect our character, others think this is complete nonsense. But here's one observation: for some reason, people who can quickly determine what a person is like usually have a good memory for faces.

Holders sharp chin subconsciously resist when they are told that they need to do something. They automatically fight back if they feel even the slightest pressure. The more they are forced to do something, the more they resist and refuse to budge. Working with people who have this trait will make you feel like you're banging your head against a wall. These are extremely stubborn people. However, they can be easily convinced by reasonable and logical arguments - explanation in this case works much better than pressure.

People who are prone to stubbornness seem to withstand emotional pressure better than others. However, in reality they are simply hiding theirs. This ultimately takes a toll on one's health—rebels often develop stomach ulcers, shingles, or allergic rashes.

If you have a sharp personality, and you have this character trait, then, instead of automatically refusing everyone and everything, it is better to tell your interlocutor: “Let me come back to this later” or “I will think about your offer.” This will help avoid a lot of frustration and help keep the conversation going. Ask yourself what your stubbornness gives you, especially if it is unreasonable or unfounded. What does it feel like when you resist? Are you being smart about whether your resistance is based on principles or feelings? If you find yourself under pressure, think about distractions to relieve stress. For example, you can take a walk along the river, listen to music, or do something that will help you relax.

Some methods propose to distinguish only three types of chin - massive, sloping and vertical, but the qualities and features they symbolize are considered in more detail, taking into account not only the shape of this part of the face, but also the time of birth of the person being studied. At the same time, the year is divided not quite usually - into three parts of four months each: from December to March, from April to July and from August to November. And what are the results of such an analysis?

People with thick chins generally have good health, physical strength and endurance. They are brave, decisive, not too stubborn, and good-natured. They love sports, especially wrestling, swimming and tennis. They are hardworking, do not need long rest, and are persistent in achieving their goals.

Massive chin in people born from December to March, may indicate short temper and irritability. Arguing with them is dangerous and useless - you won’t prove anything anyway: they will listen, frown, but do it their own way. Fighters by nature, they do not allow anyone to get the better of them. If this does happen, they experience a hard time and may even become depressed, but under favorable circumstances they often achieve impressive success in their chosen field of activity. They are excellent organizers. Having demonstrated organizational skills during their school years, they carry this gift throughout their lives. Their actions are well thought out, they never act at random. If they notice falsity or lies in a conversation, they can decisively cut off the interlocutor.

"Massive chins" in people born in April – July, is a sign of a strong character. Not only men, but also women prefer friendship with people of the opposite sex. They are disgusted by routine housework and are more prone to analytical and intellectual pursuits. Without even consciously realizing it, such women are looking for (and usually finding) flexible marriage partners in order to dominate the family and lead their husbands. In order not to escalate the situation, they are ready to express agreement with the interlocutor on controversial issues (but remain unaffected by their opinion). They quite reasonably believe that everyone has the right to their own views. They never interfere in other people's affairs, do not get involved in someone else's conversation, and do not give advice unless they are asked to do so. They are so delicate that they are often perceived as indifferent and indifferent people. However, anyone who turns to them for help will not receive an unmotivated refusal. They know how to control themselves and do not panic over trifles.

People with sloping chins are complex in nature. They are cautious, ambitious and uncooperative. August – November. In this case, it is necessary to note the sensitivity and suspiciousness of individuals. For example, owners of sloping chins, born during the designated period of time, begin to fear old age quite early. Because of this, they take on many things at once, overloading themselves beyond measure, as a result of which they often experience psychological fatigue. They are prone to melancholy, depression, and nervous breakdowns. They need support in difficult times. It’s good if there is a devoted friend next to them, an optimist by nature, who additionally charges them with his energy.

Men are dynamic, sometimes self-confident. They know how to force people to reckon with themselves. They are sensitive to jokes directed at them: they do not always perceive them adequately. They often get involved in difficult situations, but, fortunately, they know how to get out of them, possessing well-developed deductive and analytical abilities. For the same reason, if we talk about a career, they reach heights by choosing the profession of an investigator or detective.

Women are proud, straightforward, somewhat cold in communication. At the same time, they are incorrigible optimists. Boundless confidence in inevitable success often leads them to commit rash, careless actions both in the business sphere and in their personal lives. Very kind and receptive. They love animals, but rarely keep them in their home, fearing additional troubles, but they often and with pleasure go to the zoo or to friends who have pets.

People with a vertical chin distrustful and withdrawn, taciturn, difficult to get them to talk. They do not share their worries and problems even with their closest friends and relatives; they keep everything to themselves. April – July. Both men and women of this type are reliable. They do not allow any disruptions in their work. They have a developed imagination and serve as a source of original ideas. Disorganized and undisciplined people cause them irritation, which they do not hide at all. They are critics by nature, sometimes corrosive to the smallest detail. Needless to say: you can’t expect any special love from others. However, it is difficult to do without them in a team, and colleagues understand this: lack of hypocrisy and honesty are qualities that command respect.

August – November. Such people are calm and balanced, charming, and liked by others. Women value comfort and beauty, are drawn to antiques, try to wear expensive jewelry, and use good perfume. They often change intimate partners, constantly feeling loneliness and their own specialness even next to the closest person.

Men also feel lonely both in the family and in the team. They are too proud and independent. They are smart, have analytical skills, scientific inclinations, ingenuity, and the ability to find extraordinary solutions. IN professional activity they are not always lucky, but they never despair. They willingly give practical advice to those in need, they are selfless and generous.
